just another brick in the wall

Top: Thrifted; Jeans: Marciano; Booties: Shoemint

The boyfriend and I spent an afternoon running around town and taking pictures in some of our favorite local spots. It's funny how you forget how beautiful places can be. Usually, I head out for work at 6am and then get home 12 hours later; just to eat dinner, watch some TV and then fall into bed. I'm not able to run around and just enjoy where I live. It's so nice to be reminded of all the beauty that surrounds us here-in this case, a great brick wall or a view that goes on as far as the eye can see.

a little bit tribal

Sweater: Forever 21; Top: Forever 21; Jeans: Levi's (High-Waisted); Booties: Rag & Bone "Harrow"

Went on a bit of a Forever 21 (online) shopping spree over the weekend. I bought SIXTEEN ITEMS (this top and this sweater being two of them). Which is nuts. Especially if you know me and my feelings towards Forever 21. But in this case, there was a sale. A big one. And it really got under my skin. I spent the entire weekend with an internal battle of "should I/shouldn't I" in my head and finally (and not surprisingly) the "should I" side of the battle won out. Forever 21 officially ate my money.

Damn you Forever 21 and your excellent sales.

Damn you.

roar

Tee: Philip Lim x Target; Skirt: Kohl's; Shoes: Shoemint; Bag: The Limited; Sunnies: Oliver Peoples

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar

That song is officially the theme song of this shirt. Done and done.

friday roof sessions

Top: F21; Jacket: F21; Jeans; Marciano; Booties: Vince Camuto; Sunglasses: Oliver Peoples

It's hard to escape when you're working a full time job. That's why it's always fun to go to the roof of our office building and take in the views. Sometimes, it's easy to start hating Hollywood. The traffic is nothing short of hell and for the most part, it's easy to think that a lot of people just aren't all that HAPPY here. But then you see the iconic views of Sunset Boulevard, all the way out into the rest of LA, and you're reminded just how special this city really is.

skulls and stripes (again)

Top: Michael Kors; Trousers: JCrew; Scarf: Alexander McQueen; Flats: Tory Burch; Necklace: UO

I'm beginning to think this stripes/skull combo is going to become an easy uniform for me this fall. Lacking on outfit inspiration, Allie? Pair one of your million striped shirts with this magical scarf, and you've got yourself an instant look. (That was an inner monologue inside my head the morning I put this outfit on, obviously...)

This look will also provide you with the ability to float in the air. Which is pretty cool. You know.
Cause floating is fun.

The brilliant part about this outfit is that the only thing I paid full price for was the scarf. The top was a lucky thrifting find (with the tags still attached!), as were the trousers. The Reva flats I haggled for on eBay, walking away with them for a mere $50 (down from $200!). I'm pretty sure that's one of my favorite aspects of shopping; the ability to find treasures for a fraction of the price. It makes me so much more proud of my clothing, knowing that it was my own version of a treasure hunt ... know the feeling?

On another note, my boyfriend's sister has (once again) decided to start and maintain a blog. As most of you know, the beginning stages are usually the hardest (cause we all want people to read what we write, but finding readers is the hardest part ... GAH) - so if you have a second, please go and give her some words of encouragement as she sets out on this new(ish) endeavor!

the harvest festival

Top: F21; Shorts: Thrifted; Boots: Dolce Vita; Bag: The Limited; Sunnies: Oliver Peoples

We finally made it to the local harvest festival and it was everything I hoped it would be (complete with a corn maze and hives all over my legs by the end of the night.)

It's so strange how you forget how much you love nostalgia. The moments that make you remember the simpler times. I haven't been to a harvest festival/pumpkin patch in YEARS, but it was so much fun roaming around, doing nothing but eating kettle corn by the handful and crossing our fingers for a Courtney Stodden sighting.

Did any of you make it to a harvest festival before Halloween this year?
